Flower Pin Tutorial

Today I am going to do my first tutorial. I hope that you can all follow this easily. I was looking on blog world for a fuller looking pin that I could make for the little girl tops I have been making. I found several that I liked but the tutorials on them were not clear and had very little pictures. I then decided to come up with my own. I figures if I could fold the material enough eventually I could come up with some thing that at least resembled a flower. Here goes nothing!

Here is what it is supposed to look like in the end:

First I cut out about 20 circles. You can use whatever size circle you want. It just depends how big you want your flower to be. I used the lid of a vitamin bottle. One circle will be the base for your flower.
Take another circle and put a dot of glue (I used a hot glue gun), up near the top to one side:

Then fold your circle in half, pressing on the glue to flatten and make sure your material is glued down.

then put another dot of glue to the left, lower edge of the half circle:

then fold it in half again:

Place another dot of glue on the edge of the "pizza slice":

Now fold it again. Now you should have a small triangle pizza slice shape:

You then glue that onto your base circle.When you do this you want your triangles to hang off the circle a little at the top. You continue this, working your way around your circle until the bottom layer looks like this:

Then do it all again, placing the next set of small pizza slice shapes on top of the bottom layer. Not directly on top, but down just a little so that when your done it looks like this:

Now the next set of circle you want to fold like the ones above, but you don't want to put dots of glue. The reason being you want them to open up a little when you put them on the top to finish your flower. then cup the bottom point off the petal to look like this:

Place a dab of glue on the cut edge and place the petal in the middle of your flower. Continue doing this until your flower has the fullness that you want in the middle. These petals kind of stand in the middle instead of laying down like the ones on the lower parts of the flower.

Well that's how you make my flower pin. I hope that was explained well. Maybe to much detail I don't know. Anyway hope you make one and enjoy it. They are great embellishments for clothes and you could also make them into hair clips.
